We build a small community with our student guests. Therefore we select candidates with an extra interest in the meaning of life and in the care for our planet. We are not a sect, we do not impose a religion, and we do not accept any extremisms. But we do search for students who go an extra mile for the planet, for the people around them, and for their own soul.
We hold a one hour community meeting every month, to discuss about the soul and the planet, and to agree on a few shared actions (if we wish).
We are open to students and interns (or early phase job holders up to maximum 2 years after final graduation).
We are open to candidates between 17 and 29 years old, to allow generational focus within this age group.
We promote diversity and we do not discriminate for gender, race, age, ethnic or social origin, disability, language, religion or belief, political opinion, sexual orientation, family situation, family name (non exhaustive list).
We are open to accept candidates with disabilities (except for physical disabilities that require a wheel chair, as the house is not suitable to that).
We request candidates to write a motivation letter, which explains their interests and motivations for our project inclined to the soul and the planet. After selection based on this motivation letter, the candidates are invited for an open dialogue with the property owner and the other students (ideally face-to-face or via video-call if not possible otherwise). After this discussion, the owner and the other students try to make an unanimous decision on the admission of the candidate. In case of indecisiveness, the owner shall decide. The candidate is informed about the decision shortly after the dialogue.
These house rules serve to create a safe and friendly environment for all the residents in the house. The rules are frequently evaluated and updated based on open dialogue with the students in the house (the tenants). The base rules include:
All tenants shall act respectfully with each other. Bullying, oppression, and undesired behaviours shall never be accepted (zero tolerance: these acts may lead to end of contract and immediate dismissal from the house).
The house shall be kept silent at night, between 23 and 7 o'clock. Exceptions are possible, after unanimous agreement from all tenants.
No smoking, no vaping inside the house. Smoking/vaping is only allowed in the garden or on the street in front of the house.
Every tenant contributes to keeping the rooms, the common areas and the garden clean. Rooms are aired at least twice daily for at least 10 minutes.
Waste is sorted correctly in the waste bins for: glass, paper, plastics, green and residual waste. Reusable and electronic items are set apart to allow reuse.
All tenants contribute to the efficient use of natural resources (dim the lights, limit the use of water, adjust the heating, recycle).
All tenants shall observe the safety precautions against fire, electrocution, suffocation, falls and any other risks.
The security of the building shall be protected at all times (keeping front and back doors locked, no sharing of keys with thirds).
Damages or malfunctions to any part of the building, or any object in the building, shall be reported to the owner as soon as possible and by using the designated form.
