Hey! If you're on the hunt for a cool spot, check out Maison des Fleuves in 23, rue des Jardins, 4591 Differdange. This place isn't just any student accommodation—it's a warm and hearty living community!
We're Bert and Marijke, and we're passionate about the Soul and the Planet. We both come from the busy business world and see so much polarisation, individualism, and luxury living—yet also a lot of loneliness and different types of addictions.
At the same time, we're seriously worried about climate change and how we can feed everyone in the world in a safe and healthy way. So, when we got the chance to rent out student rooms, we thought, why not create a community with students who care about the Soul and the Planet too?
We're really excited to see who will join us and help build a warm and hearty living environment together. 😊
Read on and check if you're interested!
The owners live on the ground floor, and there are five student rooms on the first and second floors, all decked out with stylish furniture. You also get a shared kitchen and a community room in the basement that opens directly to a small garden outside. Plus, there are two showers and three toilets for you to use. Park your bike right in front of the house!
This place is in a super chill spot on one of the hills in the heart of Differdange. It's on a dead-end street with hardly any traffic. You're just a 7-minute walk from the train station (and remember, trains and buses are free in Luxembourg), 9 minutes from the Miami University John E. Dolibois European Centre (MUDEC), 22 minutes walking or 6 minutes biking to LUNEX University, and 15 minutes by foot-and-train to Belval (Université de Luxembourg).
Five furnished rooms are up for grabs on the first and second floors. Each room is named after a major river in Luxembourg. How cool is that?

We’re all about building a tight-knit community with our student guests. We're looking for people who are interested in the meaning of life and caring for our planet. Just to be clear, we’re not a sect, we don’t push any religion, and we don’t accept any extremisms. But we do want students who are passionate about the planet, the people around them, and their own personal growth.
We’d love to see how you can contribute to this community. Here are a few examples of what we could do:
Weekly Cooking Nights: Let's come together once a week to cook and enjoy a meal.
Spiritual Discussions: Create some time to chat about spiritual things.
Community Actions: Come up with ways to help out, whether it's assisting poor or disabled people or any other meaningful action.
Every month, we have a one-hour community meeting where we can evaluate our way of living and decide on a few shared actions if we want to.
We can't wait to see what you bring to the table! 😊
Who Can Join?
- We're open to students, interns, and early job holders (up to 2 years after graduation).
- You need to be between 17 and 29 years old to keep the focus within this age group.
Inclusivity
- We celebrate diversity and don't discriminate based on gender, race, age, ethnicity, disability, religion, political opinion, sexual orientation, family situation, or any other characteristic.
- We accept candidates with disabilities (except for physical disabilities that require a wheelchair, as the house isn't set up for that).
How to Apply?
- Write a motivation letter explaining your interests and why you're passionate about our project focused on the soul and the planet (use the form linked below).
- If selected, you'll have an open dialogue with the property owner and other students (ideally in person or via video call).
- After this discussion, we'll try to make a unanimous decision on your admission with the other residents. You'll be informed shortly after the dialogue.
Ready to join our mission? We can't wait to hear from you!
House Rules for a Friendly and Safe Environment
To make sure we all have a chill and friendly place to live, we’ve got some house rules. These are regularly updated based on open chats with our tenants. Here are the basics:
Respect Each Other: Treat everyone with respect. Bullying, oppression, and bad behaviour won't be tolerated and could lead to ending your contract and immediate dismissal.
Quiet Hours: Keep the noise down from 23 at night to 7 in the morning. Exceptions can be made if everyone agrees.
No Smoking or Vaping Indoors: If you need to smoke or vape, do it in the garden or out on the street in front of the house.
No drugs allowed (in any form)
Keep It Clean: Everyone pitches in to keep the rooms, common areas, and garden clean. Air out your room at least twice a day for 10 minutes each time.
Waste Sorting: Sort your waste into the correct bins for glass, paper, plastics, green, and residual waste. Set apart reusable and electronic items for recycling.
Save Resources: Help us use natural resources efficiently: dim the lights, limit water use, adjust the heating, and recycle.
Safety First: Follow safety precautions to prevent fire, electrocution, suffocation, falls, and other risks.
Secure the Building: Keep the front and back doors locked and don't share your keys with anyone.
Report Issues: Let the owner know about any damages or problems in the house as soon as possible using the designated form.
Let's work together to keep our home safe and friendly for everyone!
